In order to break into your motorbike without the keys, it is highly imperative to understand the dynamics and technicalities of the machine. Mostly the motorcycles of different models and types work on the principle of ignition. Putting the motorcycle key in the keyhole starts the engine of the machine. So, if you misplace your key, the idea here is to get the engine started while employing the wiring that triggers the ignition system just as you would do with the help of key.

Steps to Hotwire a Motorcycle:

1. Locating the Key Switch Connector

You will need to ignite the engine of the motorcycle, which will give a push start to your ride. The majority of the motorcycles available today and including many from the past comes with the protective covering that actually supports the wiring of ignition. This ignition wiring you need to locate first. This location varies from model to model and type to type, but standard principles essentially remain the same with the operations of the motorbike.

Locating the Key Switch Connector

It is also noted with an experience that a few motorcycles do not come with a sort of protective covering for the sake of igniting wiring system. This in a way makes the location of the ignition wiring much simpler and straightforward. In order to keep things simple, you can access the handlebar to find out the ignition wires. The ignition wires are responsible for connecting ignition system to the engine of the machine and also leads to establishing connectivity with other key parts of the motorcycle.

Wiring Maintenance Tip:

Motorcycle wiring could be the major setback in the whole process if it is badly laid. This could become worse if you had multiple electrical issues rectified or had multiple accessories installed. The idea is to keep things organized whenever you have any wiring related issue to resolve.

2. Locate Socket and Bifurcate Both Parts of the Socket

As you track down the ignition wires above while employing the handlebar, then you will see 3 x wires, bundled together in a single sleeve. This setting actually connects the ignition system of the motorcycle with its other parts. At this point, you would also notice the subject wires coming out through the other end of the cap. One key thing to note here is to ensure that only the cap hooked with the ignition system should be chosen as motorcycles could have more than one cap.

Locate Socket and Bifurcate Both Parts of the Socket

There are normally two caps in a motorcycle. First one is hooked with the wires associated with the handlebar, while the other one is that, which comes out of the cap. These two caps need to be separated as the wires connected with the handlebar are not what we need here.

3. Inserting the Speaker wire in the Socket

This is the most critical of all steps and would make or break the entire outcome. The speaker wire would take the charge in this section and needs to be inserted in the socket. One thing to ponder here is that the reason behind separating the two caps is actually to get access to the sockets.

The cap separated from the handlebar should be attempted to get it pulled out in order to create more room. For the first socket, insert the wire in it and its other end should have the other end of the wire inserted. Make sure to use speaker wire length should be in access of 3 inches or otherwise that would be too short for the purpose.

Once you make the required insertion of speaker wire as discussed above, you will see that the light would turn on. But, in case if you do not see the light getting on then you need to insert the ends of the wire into the other available socket caps. Making the right combination would definitely turn the light on. It is just a matter of finding the right combination.

4. Switch On the Ignition Button

Once the above step is successfully satisfied with the lights switched on, then you need to switch on the ignition button. Performing this step would let you witness the engine’s sound as the motorcycle gets started.

Switch On the Ignition Button

Congratulations! This is where you completed the hot wiring process of a motorcycle. Every step is dependent upon the success of prior step and if you have done it the right way, hot wiring a motorcycle is just a piece of cake.

Final Verdict:

The hot wiring a motorcycle is a fairly simple process, which requires you to know some simple technicalities of the motorcycle and a few tools. In order to summarize the process, you first need to spot and access the ignition wiring system. The wires that run from the handlebar are needed to be followed, which eventually leads to the wiring cap and that needs to be separated in its two parts.

This is followed by inserting both ends of the wire into the speaker caps. This successful insertion would lead to the switching of the light in one state. Finally, you need to push the ignition button and your motorcycle engine would get started. That’s it.

The process described here is not meant to help thieves in any way. Rather, it is meant to facilitate people to get their motorcycle started when they are not in access of their motorcycle keys due to any legitimate reason.
